On October 27th, ophthalmic techs Tiffany and Sandi, participated in the Seattle King County Health Clinic at Key Arena in Seattle. They worked under the direction of volunteer eye care providers in the vision clinic, performing refractions on patients to provide them with new eye glass prescriptions. Patients were then directed to a fully stocked and staffed optical area to choose their new frames. Also available were medical and dental care. The Humane society of Washington even provided free veterinary care for patient’s pets!
Both Tiffany and Sandi were so impressed with the efficiency and enthusiasm of the volunteer providers and support staff, and were excited to have been a part of so many deserving people receiving much needed health care and comfort!
Here are some numbers from the four-day event:
4,010 patients seen
3,800 volunteer providers and support staff
3,283 diagnostic tests performed
37 language interpreters present
Total of $3.5 million in services given at $0 cost to the patients!
Yay Tiffany and Sandi!
